A Japanese artist born in Osaka, based in Denmark since 1997. Since 1986, she has been using tracing paper in her works to create three-dimensional hanging sculptures. She has also participated in numerous international exhibitions. For public art, she utilizes polypropylene and laminated materials as durable media, presenting works in various public spaces, primarily in Japan and Denmark, for many years. Her works, while delicate and ethereal, possess a dynamic and poetic quality, and despite being made from paper, they exhibit an unexpected durability.
Several of her works are permanently displayed in four locations across Denmark, including the Danish Cultural Center and a church. These installations were made possible through citizen requests, donations, and church funding. That reflects how her works have been seamlessly integrated into public spaces and recognized as part of the architectural environment and public property.
In Japan, some of her works are part of the collections at the National Museum of Art, Osaka, and the Seiryukai cultural institution. Additionally, her pieces have been commissioned for a city hall, a hospital, and a nursing association, reflecting the high level of public interest in her work.
For this exhibition, she moves beyond her usual medium of paper and focuses on elements of Ando’s architecture, particularly the interplay of light and the integration with nature. Using windows as a medium, she aims to merge external information, such as the changes in light throughout the day, with reflections of shadows and light projected outward. In the open, light-breathing atrium designed by Ando, she creates a space that evokes poetry, offering an experience that connects visitors to the presence of nature.
